Specifically designed to pass UK medical device regulations, the Octaderm, (unlike converted sunbeds) is backed by a manufacturer who builds the full body canopies trusted by NHS Hospitals in the UK, and healthcare professionals abroad. In short, the Octaderm replicates the treatment you would expect in a hospital, in the comfort of your own home.
This mobile phototherapy system is equipped with eight Philips TL100 UVB 100 watt UVB fluorescent tubes, with narrow-band UVB (311 nm). Additionally, a reflector made of polished, high-purity aluminium, increases the efficiency of the device. For an increased longevity of the fluorescent tubes, only gentle electronic starters are used.
The MEDlight OCTAderm is the only device in its class which is equipped with a real sensor-guided dosimetry. This allows the precise application of each dose, and therefore a higher treatment efficiency can be achieved. This mobile phototherapy system is equipped with eight 100 watt UV fluorescent tubes, with narrow-band UVB (311 nm). Additionally, a reflector made of polished, high-purity aluminium, increases the efficiency of the device.
Unlike some other full body canopies available, the Octaderm only comes with Philips TL100 UVB lamps and does not offer a mixture of other non-branded "UVB" tubes (For more information on why we only use Philips TL100 UVB lamps - read our blog).
Better safe than sorry
To prevent use by unauthorised persons, the device can be put into operation only via a key switch. The modern controller allows individual presetting of dose limits, according to customer preference. The risk of overdosing, e.g. due to incorrect user input, can thus be significantly reduced. To prevent damage to UV tubes, and to protect the user against injuries in case of glass breakage, the UVB tubes area is covered with a transparent acrylic plate.
Due to the optimised design of the device, the tubes are positioned far down, resulting in significantly improved therapy results for the lower legs.
The large rubberised lockable castors simplify the handling and transportation during daily use. For storage of accessories, such as goggles, the lid of the device has inset pockets. Making it easy to keep things tidy and at hand. Even the assembly of the device is extremely easy due to a plug-in system, tools are not required, and there are no screws, nuts or bolts to be lost.

Purchaser assembly is required, however these units are very easy to assemble and require no screws or bolts. The UVB tubes are already fitted into the canopy. The goggles and the key switch are located in a compartment on the top of the canopy for safe storage.
